Salon Cape Sizes Explained: 50x60 vs 60x72

Short answer: A 50" x 60" cape is the standard size for haircuts, trims and styling. A 60" x 72" cape is for color, bleach, shampoo and chemical services, and for larger clients. At Salonwear the 50" x 60" is the 9010 Silkara Salon Cape ($24, our best seller) and the 60" x 72" is the 9020 Super Cape ($30), the same cape in a bigger cut.

What the numbers mean
The first number is the width across the shoulders and arms. The second is the length from the neck down. Going from 50" x 60" to 60" x 72" adds 10" of width and 12" of length. That extra fabric covers the lap, the arms and more of the chair.

Neck fit
Both adult sizes adjust at the neck from 10" to 24". Kids capes adjust from 7" to 24".

- For fully waterproof shampoo work, choose matte black PU (not shiny PU).
- Peachskin capes are for cutting only, not color or shampoo.
- Many salons stock both: 9010s at cutting stations, 9020s at the color bar.
